Black Bean Burgers

These black bean burgers are perfect to put on an actual burger, to dip in some sauce and eat on their own, or to top a salad with. The picture avocado cream sauce is just 1 avocado, the juice of 1 lime, and 2 Tbsp of hot sauce (I used Trader Joe's Green Dragon sauce) blended together until smooth. Enjoy!

Black Bean Burgers

  • Total time: 28 minutes

Servings: 5-6 burgers

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of black beans
  • 1/2 cup of raw red lentils
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup shredded red onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cumin

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Cook the 1/2 cup of red lentils and set aside
  3. Using a cheese grater, shred a red onion until you have about 1/2 cup
  4. Drain and rinse the can of black beans
  5. Add shredded red onion, black beans, and cooked red lentils into a large bowl
  6. Smash the black beans with a fork as best you can
  7. Add in the seasonings, bread crumbs, nutritional yeast, and 2 eggs and mix until combined
  8. Form the mixture into 5 burger patties and place on a sprayed cookie sheet
  9. Bake for 10 minutes, flip the burgers, and bake for another 10 minutes
