Black Bean Burgers

These black bean burgers are perfect to put on an actual burger, to dip in some sauce and eat on their own, or to top a salad with. The picture avocado cream sauce is just 1 avocado, the juice of 1 lime, and 2 Tbsp of hot sauce (I used Trader Joe's Green Dragon sauce) blended together until smooth. Enjoy!

Ingredients (Makes 5 burgers):

1 can of black beans

1/2 cup of raw red lentils

1/2 cup bread crumbs

1/4 cup shredded red onion

2 eggs

3 Tbsp nutritional yeast

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1/2 tsp cumin

1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees

2) Cook the 1/2 cup of red lentils and set aside

3) Using a cheese grater, shred a red onion until you have about 1/2 cup

4) Drain and rinse the can of black beans

5) Add shredded red onion, black beans, and cooked red lentils into a large bowl

6) Smash the black beans with a fork as best you can

7) Add in the seasonings, bread crumbs, nutritional yeast, and 2 eggs and mix until combined

8) Form the mixture into 5 burger patties and place on a sprayed cookie sheet

9) Bake for 10 minutes, flip the burgers, and bake for another 10 minutes
