  • Prep time: 15 minutes
  • Cook time: 50 minutes
  • Total time: 65 minutes

Servings: 6 servings

  • 3 medium red apples (I used Jazz apples)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 premade pie crusts

  1. Remove pie crust from the oven and begin to thaw them at room temperature (this may take an hour)
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  3. Wash and slice apples into thin strips
  4. Place apple slices in a large bowl. Add the cinnamon and brown sugar and mix well
  5. Once thawed, place one pie crust on the bottom of the cast iron pan
  6. Add apple mixture into the pie crust
  7. Cut remaining pie crust into strips (if desired for appearance) and create a lattice structure on the top of the pie. Additional option: Place pie crust as a whole (no cutting) on top of the pie and cut holes using a knife instead
  8. Bake the pie for 20 minutes at 400 degrees, then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 30 additional minutes
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving
