  • Prep time: 12 minutes
  • Cook time: 6 minutes
  • Total time: 18 minutes

Servings: 10 oreos

  • 1/2 cup butter OR coconut oil (although coconut oil WILL make them inevitably taste like coconut oil)
  • 1/4 cup 100% pure maple syrup (Trader Joe’s has the cheapest options)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt

-- ICING -

  • 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp milk (slowly add this to get desired texture)

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Place room temperature butter or coconut oil in a mixer with the maple syrup and mix until well combines
  3. Add in cocoa powder, flour, and salt and mix until well combined
  4. Spray a large baking sheet to prevent sticking and roll half inch balls of dough in your hand, then flatten them in your palms. Place the flattened cookie on the baking sheet and repeat with all dough
  5. Bake for 6 minutes
  6. Remove from oven and let cool completely. While the cookies are cooling, mix the icing ingredients together and leave at room temperature. Slowly add the milk to achieve desired texture. Slightly more or less may be necessary
  7. Ice one cookie with icing and place another cookie on top. Repeat with all cookies
